Crasto red wine was produced from grapes of the traditional Douro varieties such as Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Franca. The grapes from previously selected stands were subjected to a rigorous selection at the entrance to the cellar before being de-stemmed, crushed and transferred to stainless steel fermentation vats where they were fermented at a controlled temperature for a period of 5 to 7 days. The wine aged in stainless steel tanks and did not contact with wood.
